Here are all the types of wheels that I have currently in my possession... and trust me, unless you have the space, collect valve covers or something. Wheels take up too much valuable shop space. I'm continually moving them around but ask me to sell any of them... tough luck! None are for sale. I am ALWAYS interested in buying wheels of different styles. Let me know what you have especially for those ‘wide 5’ varieties.

I was cleaning out the garage a bit ago and had all most of my wheels piled up outside on the lawn... Since that photo, one set of BRMs has been sold but I have picked up 5 more Empi 5 lug sprint stars, 2 walkers, and 6 chaparrals, 2 JPs, 4 very nice empi raders, 1 more Sears rader, 4 Rostyles (African sprint stars), and a few others. Click on the thumbnail for a bigger picture.

I do have a separate page that just looks at Rader wheels.

All are original wheels. You can click on the thumb nails to see larger pictures.

Wide 5 wheels

Aluminum drag car wheels... unknown manufacturer.

qty:2

American Racing D wheels.   In aluminum.  They also made them in magnesium.

qty: 5

American Racing 'Baja Star' wheels.  These magnesium wheels are super light and were made in 1970.  From talking with a few people, there were only about 200 sets of these ever made.  I have four 6" and two 4" wheels and will run them on my double cab.  One of the 6" wheels has been once repaired.

qty: 6

Ansen slots.  7 inch rears and 5 inch, all 15 inch.  The more I look at these the more I like them.  Fully polished.  I think I need to build a pro-stock car and fit these on!   The two 7 inch wheels still have the stickers.

qty: 4

Appliance wheel 'Pacers'.  I have two 14" wheels which need to be rechromed, four very nice 15" wheels, and two additional 15" wheels.... also in need of re chroming.  These were very popular for Things and in the dune buggy circles.

qty: 8

Astro 'Continentals'.    From the late 60's.  Definitely a 'Crager' design ripoff.  These are an all aluminum wheel, 15" x 4.5"

qty: 2  (so I really need two more!!!)

Big Wheels.  I currently have one NOS wheel, 14x7 and 3 other 14" wheels.  One is in fairly bad condition so I'm in search of a few more.

Check out the ad from the Sept. 1969 issue of Dune Buggies magazine.

qty: 4

BRM.  This is the classic Cal-Look wheel.  Magnesium in construction and very light.  I currently have one set from an old drag car and an additional wheel that appears to be NOS as it looks as if it has never had a tire mounted.  Also shown is an original center cap, repop stickers made a number of years ago and a BRM wheel key chain.  And for all that wonder, the last picture is of the wheel studs and nuts from the drag car set.

qty: 5

Cal Parts wheels... from San Jose.  All aluminum construction and reasonably light.  Negative offset makes these wheels not fit all applications.  Note the picture comparing it to the Crestline wheel (the silver and black one).  Actually, if you wanted, you could run the cal-parts in the back and the crestlines in the front!

qty 6

Chaparrals.  These are a two piece construction, steel rim, aluminum centers.  I currently have set of four 13" wheels that are in fantastic shape.

qty: 4

Climax 'Continentals' (also known as a Walker wheel).  Two piece construction, steel rim, aluminum center.  These wheels shown are 4" wide.  I'd like to find another pair that are five or six inches wide... let me know if you have some.

qty: 2

Crestline.  All aluminum construction.  Very similar to the cal-parts but with less negative offset.

qty 1

DDS Deano Aluma lite wheels.

All aluminum, very light, three piece welded construction.  Read about them from the catalog

Two of my wheels came from an original DDS drag car.

qty 4

NOS Eelco wheel adaptors.  Actually one pair is Cal Custom and the other Eelco.  Note the box states Eelco is a subsidiary of Lee Eliminators, the same company that bought Empi.  In the 70's, the thing to do was run Crager wheels using these adaptors.

ET or Rockets... These have ribbed spokes and not smooth like the typical Cal-Parts or Crestlines.  The debate of who actually made them continues as I have yet to run across an ad in a magazine or a person that can put a definitive answer to this question.  They have a steel rim and an aluminum face... similar to a number of wheels available in the late 60's.

qty: 4

EMPI GT five spokes.  These are two piece aluminum construction and were popular with drag racers since they could unbolt the two halves and easily change a tire in the pits.  The set of polished ones shown were my first set of vintage wheels... shame on my wife for encouraging me to buy them at a swap meet in Boise.  I currently have six polished, four gold and then three others that are in pretty bad shape.

The picture of the caps shows a reproduction cap on the upper left, an original cap on the bottom, and a reproduction cap with interesting red and white sticker on the right.  Note the difference in diameter of the flat spot between the original and reproduction caps.

qty: 13

Fuch look-a-likes.  These are not truly vintage but I have a set anyway as there were none like it made in the 60's or 70's.  I'm currently running this set on my 58 ghia vert.

qty: 4

Fumagalli.  Sold by JCWhitney back in the 60's and 70's.  This is a pressed steel wheel.  In the ads, they never show caps for them.

qty: 4

Lemmerz trim rings.  All of various dates but there are four that have date codes of '58 for use on either one of my 58 ghias

qty: 8

Rader, EMPI version.  Note the ribbed spoke.  These are two piece construction with a steel rim and aluminum center.  Go see the complete story... Here is an original paint 'black' wheel and a very close to perfect wheel with an original center cap.  Also shown is an ultra rare 7" wide rader... the only one I know of and if you have one, please email me!!!.  I also recently acquired this original empi/rader wheel box, thanks Thornton.

qty: 7

Rader, Sears version.  Note the flat spokes and filled center.  More info on my complete Rader page.  Got one more I can buy????  Currently being reproduce by Randar wheels

qty: 3

Rostyle.  Also called African Sprint Stars.  15" x 4.5"

qty: 4

Porsche.  Dated 9-59.

qty: 2

Speedwell spacers.  For that wide track look or if you want to run raders or a similar wheel with Porsche 'A' or 'B' brakes

qty: 2

Sprint stars, EMPI.  All steel wheel and quite heavy.  Reproduced by flat4.  Originals are stamped Lemmerz and/or made in West Germany.  I have two 4.5" wheels and four 5.5" wheels.

qty: 6

Superior.  These slot wheels are similar to Ansens.  There are no manufacturers markings on the back side nor are there webs like the ansens.

qty: 4

Four lug wheels

American Racing 4 spokes.

EMPI 8 spoke.  Two piece construction just like their wide 5 brothers.  I have no caps for these so I'm in the search.

qty: 4

Formula V.  The design was copied by Riviera in recent years.  Two piece construction with a steel rim and an aluminum face.

qty: 4

JP wheels.  13 inch and 7 inches wide!  Made in Sweden (I think).  I only have one cap.

Here's a link to a page just on the JP wheels:

http://hem.passagen.se/tobiasax/jp.htm

qty: 2

Performance Industries.  These were made in Portland Oregon, just a few hours from where I live now.  Cool wheel.  No caps.

qty: 4

Sprint Stars.  Sold by EMPI and made by Lemmerz.  Like their 5 bolt brothers, these are quite heavy.  I have 2 sets, one original paint and the other original chrome, including caps.

qty: 8

Superior 'Turtle' wheels.  Popular accessory for ghias in the 70's.

qty: 4

Wheels I'm looking for:

Wide 5 American D-Spokes... either in aluminum or magnesium
Porsche Carrera rims.  These have an aluminum rim and steel center
... and of course a few more to make up sets with those listed above... Astros, Big Wheels, Fumagalli, Raders, and Walkers.
